In many cases, male birds are prettier and more colorful
than female birds. This appearance is a result of evolution. Male birds are
colorful to attract female birds.
But sometimes, beautiful feathers are not
enough to impress the lady. Some birds develop other characteristics like
dancing, making the nest for the lady and collecting some things (rock,
flowers).
An example for this is the red-capped manakin which does the moonwalk
to impress and attract the female bird.
Its Latin name is Ceratopipra mentalis
and it lives in tropical and subtropical forests in South America. This bird
species is very small (16 g) and it eats only fruits.
